Crowns

Exceptional smiles

Crowns are made to cover your teeth to improve the appearance of your own natural teeth, provide additional strength or as part of a smile design or makeover.  We work closely with our talented ceramists to create exceptional aesthetics according to your own specifications.

Crowns are most often made of dental porcelain and can be made to look so natural they are difficult to tell apart from original teeth.

We use the latest intra-oral scanners and computer-aided smile design technology to ensure you have a good idea of what shape and shade your crowns will have

When do I need a crown?

There can be a number of different reasons why you might need a dental crown. From our experience, and by recommendation from our dentists, patients choose to have dental crowns in one or more of the following situations:

  • To restore severely broken down teeth;
  • To provide additional strength to a weakened tooth (for example a root-filled tooth);
  • To lighten tooth colour in more difficult cases (where teeth whitening is less likely to succeed, for example);
  • To close gaps between teeth;
  • To better align crowded or protruding teeth;
  • Used as part of a Smile Design or Makeover.

Why choose Care Dental Platinum?

At Care Dental Platinum we use the latest intra-oral scanners and computer-aided smile design technology to ensure you have a good idea of what shape and shade your crowns will have before treatment starts. Fillings

Invisible fillings

Fillings are the traditional treatment for cavities left by tooth decay, cracks and tooth wear.

Dental composites are specially formulated white or tooth-coloured fillings that are coloured to exactly match your teeth. Composites are developed to replace lost tooth structure, whilst maintaining strength and sealing the cavity to prevent further bacterial leakage.

At Care Dental Platinum we use the latest technology, master ceramicists and our unique Enjoyable Dentistry TechniqueTM to ensure that your fillings are virtually invisible and the treatment is pain-free.

How do I know if I need a filling?

A dentist is the only person who can confirm if you need a filling, however there are a few warning signs to look out for:

  • Sensitivity or pain when eating or drinking hot, cold or sweet foods (or temperature changes in general e.g. cold wind);
  • Pain on biting;
  • Black- or brown-coloured spots on any surface of the teeth;
  • Obvious cavities or areas that act as a food trap.

These warning signs can mean that the problem is already quite advanced and failure to address the symptoms can even lead to painful tooth nerve inflammation. You can prevent this by attending regular examinations so that any problems can be detected early, and then make the relevant lifestyle changes.

Dental Composites: where art meets nature

Dental Composite is the material of choice for fillings. Modern composites come in a multitude of different shades, and effects and can be artfully blended into the original tooth structure so they are almost impossible to spot!

Our dentists are specially trained to provide the most aesthetic and realistic looking fillings. Composites can also be used to veneer front teeth as a kinder and more reversible alternative to porcelain.

Dental Composites conserve more tooth structure than old fashioned mercury fillings, and the latest bonding techniques ensure a strong adhesion to the tooth which is less likely to let bacteria leak through, leading to tooth decay.

When a larger filling is required in a tooth, sometimes it can be best to restore the tooth with a lab-made porcelain filling- or an inlay/onlay. They are indicated when there is too little tooth structure to predictably support a white filling but there is enough tooth to avoid placing a crown, which is more destructive to the tooth.
